Registered dental hygienist, entrepreneur, and founder of BrownGirlRDH, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing diversity, mentorship, and educational opportunities within the dental hygiene profession. She founded BrownGirlRDH in 2018 with a mission to support aspiring and practicing dental hygienists through scholarships, leadership development, networking, and workforce initiatives. Under her leadership, BrownGirlRDH has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships and educational resources to dental hygiene students across the country while creating impactful programs focused on mentorship, professional growth, and community outreach. Martelle has also led the development of workforce pipeline initiatives designed to introduce high school students to careers in dental hygiene and oral healthcare. Known for her passion for education, advocacy, and representation within healthcare, Martelle continues to expand BrownGirlRDH through national conferences, partnerships, educational programming, and community-based initiatives that empower the next generation of oral health professionals.
Secretary, educator, and advocate for oral health equity with nearly two decades of clinical experience in private practice, pediatric dentistry, and community healthcare. A proud U.S. Army veteran, she is passionate about mentorship, workforce development, and increasing access to care in underserved communities. Ebony earned her dental hygiene degree from Central Piedmont Community College and her Bachelor of Business Administration from Strayer University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Health Sciences degree in Clinical Research at Cabarrus College of Health Sciences and previously served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Central Piedmont Community College. As Secretary of the BrownGirlRDH Board of Directors, Ebony is committed to supporting aspiring dental hygienists and advancing initiatives that promote education, diversity, and equity within the profession.supports the board through leadership guidance, partnership development, and organizational strategy.
